Around 8 p.m., five to six Vietnamese workers entered the store. One young man in his 20s, helping his sister buy a scratch-off ticket, casually picked a NT$1,000 “12 Million Lucky” ticket. Moments later, the shop erupted in cheers.
Eyewitnesses said the young man suddenly jumped from his chair, shouting in broken Mandarin, “I won 1 million! I won 1 million!” Customers froze in surprise before gathering around him. When the staff scanned the ticket, the machine displayed “Unauthorized ticket – please redeem at designated bank,” creating a brief moment of tension.
The store agent, Lin Zi-Qiao, carefully verified the ticket and confirmed the astonishing news: it had indeed won NT$1,000,000.
About 20 customers in the store cheered loudly, while staff lit a long string of firecrackers to celebrate. The booming sounds drew the attention of passersby, who stopped to witness the lively celebration.
In a heartwarming gesture, the winner revealed that the ticket was bought for his sister, and he planned to hand her the NT$1 million. Upon hearing the news, his sister happily declared, “Everyone should share in the happiness,” distributing 20 red envelopes to customers in the store and spreading the festive cheer.
The joyful scene filled the shop and street with laughter, firecrackers, and a lively Lunar New Year atmosphere.
