A man in Kaohsiung has been sentenced to 11 months in prison after attacking his wife, driving under the influence of drugs, and aggressively obstructing police officers who responded to the incident, authorities confirmed.
🚨 Violent Domestic Incident
The case began on the evening of July 22, 2025, when officers from the Fengshan Precinct responded to a report of a domestic dispute in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung.
Upon arrival, police discovered that a man surnamed Mao, in his 30s, had allegedly slashed his wife with a utility knife following an argument.
To ensure her safety, officers escorted the injured woman in a patrol vehicle to the police station to assist her in applying for a protection order.
đźš— Dangerous Pursuit and Road Endangerment
Instead of stopping, Mao reportedly followed the patrol vehicle on a motorcycle, repeatedly overtaking it and suddenly braking in front of it—dangerous actions that put both the officers and the victim at risk.
The situation escalated further upon arrival at the police station. Authorities stated that Mao attempted to obstruct police operations by using a bicycle and even his own body to block access and interfere with official duties.

After repeated warnings were ignored, officers arrested Mao on the spot for obstruction of justice.
Subsequent investigations revealed a troubling history, including multiple prior domestic violence reports involving the same victim.
Police also pursued drug-related allegations. Although Mao initially refused testing, authorities obtained a court order for a compulsory examination, which later confirmed the presence of illegal substances in his system.

The Kaohsiung District Court found that Mao not only committed domestic violence but also endangered public safety and openly defied law enforcement authority.
Judges noted his lack of remorse and the seriousness of his actions, particularly the reckless pursuit of a police vehicle while under the influence of drugs.
He was subsequently sentenced to 11 months in prison.
