Kaohsiung City, Taiwan — February 2, 2026 — A fire broke out yesterday at the Lite-On Technology building on Neihuan North Road in Kaohsiung’s Nanzi District, prompting evacuation of employees and a response from the city’s fire department.

According to authorities, the Kaohsiung Fire Bureau received the report at 9:35 a.m. and dispatched nine fire trucks and 20 personnel to the site. Upon arrival, firefighters found the blaze had already been extinguished. A large number of employees had been safely evacuated to the first floor of the building.

Internal sources indicated that the fire originated in an unused cable rack inside the building’s sixth-floor electrical room. One security team leader sustained burns in the incident, while no other employees required hospital transport, and fire trucks did not discharge water during the response.

The fire department is investigating the cause of the incident.

Lite-On Technology, a publicly listed company, initially focused on LED products before expanding into computer power supplies. The company has since diversified into smart city infrastructure, including wireless communication networks, various smart sensors, security monitoring systems, and intelligent street lighting. In 2016, Lite-On invested NT$10 billion to establish its Kaohsiung Operations Center.
