Taipei, January 15, 2026
Authorities detained a passenger at Taipei MRT’s Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station this afternoon after the individual reportedly approached a female commuter with scissors, asking if she wanted a haircut. No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m., when the MRT Operations Control Center received a report of a passenger dispute at the station. Security staff and the station manager were immediately dispatched to the platform, and police, along with fire and emergency services, were notified.
Upon the train’s arrival, station personnel, security officers, and MRT police swiftly removed the passenger from the train. Local police then conducted further investigation. Operations were not disrupted, and all passengers remained safe.
According to Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC), carrying announced dangerous or flammable items on MRT trains, stations, or facilities without permission violates the Mass Rapid Transit Act. The individual involved has been fined NT$10,000 in accordance with the law.
