Hualien, Taiwan — December 8, 2025
A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck off the coast of Hualien County at 7:24 p.m. on Monday evening, sending noticeable tremors across many parts of Taiwan. The strongest shaking, measuring Intensity 4, was reported in Yenliao, Hualien City, and Aowanda in Nantou County.
According to the Central Weather Administration, the quake originated at a depth of 24.5 kilometers, with the epicenter located about 15.9 kilometers south of the Hualien County Government.
