Chiayi, Taiwan — December 7, 2025
Anren Catholic Home, the first child placement institution in Chiayi County, celebrated its 15th anniversary yesterday with a special thanksgiving event that highlighted gratitude, homecoming, and blessings. The celebrations concluded with the “15th Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass and ‘Ten’ in Thanksgiving ‘Five’ You Are So Good” Dinner, attended by nearly 200 people, including children currently living at the home, alumni, former and retired staff, volunteers, and partners from the social welfare system.
The Mass was led by Bishop Pu Yingxiong, creating a warm and heartfelt atmosphere as attendees reunited and reflected on the institution’s 15-year journey of caring for disadvantaged children.
Children showcased their talents through an energetic taiko drum performance, dance routines, ethereal drumming, ocarina playing, and diabolo. Alumni returned to share their experiences after leaving the home, with one former resident expressing, “In Anren, I felt loved and cared for. I love all the teachers, social workers, and kitchen staff. I’m really happy and blessed to have lived here.”
Bishop Pu Yingxiong expressed his gratitude to the supporters of Anren Home, emphasizing that their companionship allows children to grow up healthily and learn to face life with love and care. Director Xie Mengjie added that seeing former residents return to the familiar environment and reconnect with teachers highlights the enduring power of love and support. She hopes Anren continues to be a safe haven for children, spreading gratitude, blessings, and hope through such reunions.
The anniversary dinner also included awards recognizing staff seniority, outstanding volunteers, and special awards for the children, honoring those who have contributed to the care and development of the children over the years. Many alumni shared that what they cherish most is “the warmth of eating together”. The event not only reflected on the home’s history but also symbolized the ongoing legacy of love and companionship at Anren Catholic Home.
