Keelung, Taiwan – December 2, 2025 – This morning, the crew of the Taiwanese fishing vessel Sheng Kai 7 discovered the body of a foreign national among their catch while operating off Pengjia Islet. Authorities suspect the deceased may be an Indonesian fisherman based on his clothing and physical appearance.
The vessel promptly returned to Keelung Coast Guard Station to report the incident. Coast Guard officials are investigating the case and have not ruled out the possibility that the body is linked to a capsized boat accident near Fugui Cape that occurred a few days ago.
According to the crew, while operating over 10 nautical miles west of Pengjia Islet, they retrieved their fishing net and found a floating body. The head showed significant signs of decomposition, but the clothing led the crew to suspect that the deceased was an Indonesian worker.
Originally, the Sheng Kai 7 was scheduled for a 20-day fishing trip in the open sea. However, after discovering the body, the vessel returned to Zhengbin Fishing Port, where the body was handed over to Coast Guard personnel for further investigation.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident to confirm the identity of the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic discovery.
