Kaohsiung City, Taiwan (November 29, 2025)— A sudden residential fire erupted in the Fengshan District on Tuesday, engulfing a multi-story home in heavy flames and dense smoke. The blaze, which broke out for reasons still under investigation, prompted an immediate emergency response from the Kaohsiung Fire Department.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered intense heat and thick smoke billowing from the structure. Teams quickly forced entry by breaking windows and initiated a rapid fire-suppression operation, managing to bring the situation under control within minutes.
Authorities reported that the elderly homeowner was on the first floor when the fire started. She managed to escape through the back door before flames spread further inside the house. However, a foreign migrant worker living on the second floor became trapped and was unable to exit due to the heavy smoke.
Firefighters entered the building through the rear using specialized rescue tools and successfully reached the stranded worker. Witnesses said the individual was trembling and crying after being brought out, visibly shaken by the ordeal.
Both the homeowner and the migrant worker were transported to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation after suffering from smoke inhalation. Officials noted that the two remained conscious during transport, though the extent of their injuries is still being assessed.
Fire investigators are now examining the scene to determine the exact cause of the blaze and to estimate the property damage. Further updates will be released once the investigation progresses.
