Taichung, Taiwan – November 25, 2025 – A 58-year-old woman, identified by the surname Hsu, was injured this evening after falling onto the tracks at Taichung Railway Station. The incident occurred at approximately 5:19 p.m. on Platform 1 under circumstances that remain unclear.
At the time of the fall, the Tze-Chiang Express Train No. 135 was entering the station. Despite efforts to brake, the train struck Hsu, pinning her between the carriage and the platform. Railway police officers at the scene immediately assisted in freeing her. She sustained a head laceration and was covered in blood but remained conscious.
The Taichung City Fire Department dispatched 12 firefighters from the Xinyi and Dacheng branches to the station. Upon arrival, they confirmed that Hsu was already stabilized by railway police and promptly transported her to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Railway authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of Hsu’s fall. Meanwhile, the accident caused temporary delays for southbound train services at the station.
Passengers at the station expressed concern over safety, emphasizing the need for vigilance around train platforms. Officials have urged commuters to exercise caution while waiting for trains and to report any incidents immediately.
