TAICHUNG, Taiwan — April 27, 2026 — Authorities are investigating the death of a woman who was discovered in a riverbed beneath a bridge in Taichung on Monday afternoon.
According to the Taichung City Fire Bureau, the incident was reported at around 3:20 p.m. near the intersection of Taiyuan Road Section 3 and Hanxi East Road Section 3 in Beitun District. Responders were immediately dispatched after receiving reports of a person needing assistance.
Upon arrival, rescue personnel found an unidentified woman lying in the riverbed beneath the Taiyuan No. 2 Bridge. Initial findings indicated that she had fallen from a height of approximately six meters. Emergency responders confirmed that the victim had already died at the scene.
The case has since been turned over to local police, who have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have reportedly identified the woman and notified her family.
