A 27-year-old Vietnamese man surnamed Li was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase through Guishan District and Taoyuan District on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m., when police attempted to stop Li’s SUV, which had no license plates.

According to authorities, Li ignored police orders to stop and sped away, prompting officers to fire two warning shots aimed at the vehicle’s tires. Despite this, Li continued to flee in the opposite direction, putting other motorists at risk. The pursuit ended on Linsen Road, Taoyuan District, when Li lost control of the SUV and crashed into an electric pole.

Police immediately approached the damaged vehicle and broke the window to apprehend Li. During the arrest, one officer sustained a cut to the finger from broken glass.

Initial tests revealed that Li tested positive for illegal drugs, suggesting possible intoxication during the chase. Following questioning, authorities charged him with public endangerment, violating the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act, and obstruction of public service.

Police confirmed that Li is in stable condition and currently in custody. The injured officer received medical treatment and is reported to be recovering.
