August 11, 2025 | Taipei, Taiwan

Typhoon Fung-wong continues to move closer to Taiwan, prompting the Central Weather Administration (CWA) to issue both sea and land warnings as the powerful storm approaches. The typhoon’s outer rainbands are expected to reach southern Taiwan early Tuesday morning (August 12), with the storm center predicted to make landfall by evening.

According to the latest forecast, strong winds and heavy rainfall will intensify across southern Taiwan, particularly in areas south of Chiayi, as the typhoon moves inland. The east coast, from Yilan to Hualien, is also expected to experience significant rainfall due to the combined effects of the typhoon and the northeast monsoon.

Authorities have advised the public to remain alert, secure outdoor objects, and stay updated on official announcements regarding class and work suspensions.
