Miaoli County, Taiwan — December 4, 2025
A 16-year-old junior high school student in Miaoli County was found dead on campus shortly after midnight on Thursday, marking the second fatal fall involving a female student at the same school in just over two weeks.
According to police reports, the student failed to return home after classes on December 3. Her parents, unable to reach her by phone, filed a missing person report. Authorities immediately initiated a search and later located her within the school grounds.
When officers and the girl’s family arrived, they discovered that she had fallen from one of the school buildings.
Firefighters responding to the midnight emergency call found the student lying on the ground near a classroom area with no signs of life. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact cause and circumstances of the fall remain under investigation.
This tragedy follows a similar incident on November 18, when another female student from the same junior high school was found dead after failing to report to class. She, too, was discovered to have fallen from a school building.
The two incidents, occurring just 16 days apart, have raised serious concerns among parents, educators, and local authorities. Investigations are ongoing, and officials have emphasized the need to strengthen campus safety measures and support systems for students.
