A burglary at a warehouse near a chicken farm on Xindong Street in Miaoli City, Miaoli County resulted in the theft of over 10 cypress tabletops and more than 10 bottles of valuable liquor, causing losses exceeding NT$1 million. The incident occurred at around 11 p.m. on October 22, and police are currently conducting a full investigation to locate the suspects.
According to the warehouse owner, the thief, familiar with the area, cut the lock on the outer fence before making his way along a narrow path to the metal warehouse. Using tools, the suspect cut open the metal wall, creating a large hole to gain access. The thief reportedly targeted only high-value items, taking the cypress tabletops, each worth over NT$20,000, and select foreign liquor bottles, while leaving cheaper items untouched.
The victim shared details of the incident in the Facebook group Miaoli Big and Small Matters, asking the public for surveillance footage and warning neighbors to be vigilant.
Police Response
Miaoli police confirmed that the case was reported to the Nanmiao Police Station at around 6 p.m. on October 23. Officers responded promptly, dispatched forensic personnel to collect evidence, and set up a special task force to investigate the burglary.
Authorities stated that the suspect has been identified, and evidence has been submitted to the Miaoli District Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation. Police emphasized that they are making every effort to apprehend the thief and bring them to justice.
Residents are advised to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity to local authorities as the investigation continues.
