TAOYUAN (October 30, 2025)— A Taoyuan man surnamed Amin (pseudonym) filed a lawsuit seeking NT$1.5 million in damages from his wife, Xiaohua (pseudonym), and her lover, Xiaowang (pseudonym), after discovering her repeated infidelity and pregnancy with another man. However, the Taoyuan District Court ruled against him, citing a prior settlement agreement that both parties had already honored.

According to court documents, Amin and Xiaohua were married in 2012. Despite their long marriage, Amin later discovered that his wife had engaged in multiple extramarital affairs with men she met online. Evidence presented in court showed that Xiaohua not only met these men privately but also engaged in sexual acts, nude video chats, and explicit online conversations.

In early 2023, Xiaohua reportedly became pregnant by Xiaowang. She was also accused of arranging sexual encounters with a male college student. Outraged, Amin filed a civil suit, claiming that his spousal rights had been violated, causing him emotional distress. He provided LINE chat messages, a household registration record, and hospital documents as supporting evidence.

During the trial, both Xiaohua and Xiaowang argued that they had already reached a settlement with Amin and compensated him for damages as agreed. The court found this claim valid.

The judge determined that the settlement was legally binding, and once both parties had fulfilled the agreed terms, Amin could not file a new claim for damages based on the same incident.

The ruling cited a message from March 15, 2023, in which Amin confronted Xiaohua through LINE, accusing her of repeated infidelity and reminding her of a prior promise to take responsibility for her actions. The court concluded that Amin was already aware of his wife’s misconduct by that date, rejecting his claim that he only learned of it later.

Records also showed that on March 22, 2023, Xiaohua signed a “no-divorce agreement,” pledging to transfer ownership of their house to Amin and asking for forgiveness to rebuild their marriage. Amin replied at the time that he had no intention to pursue legal action, indicating mutual understanding between both sides.

In the final verdict, the court held that since Xiaohua and Xiaowang had fulfilled the settlement and paid compensation, Amin’s additional claim for tort damages lacked legal grounds. The lawsuit was therefore dismissed.
