TAOYUAN — December 1, 2025 — Taoyuan International Airport will launch the trial operation of Terminal 3’s North Boarding Hall at 3:00 AM tomorrow, allowing passengers on early morning flights to experience the new facilities. Travelers with flights starting from 8:00 AM will be among the first to complete boarding through the new hall.

Lin Kuo-hsien, Deputy Minister of Transportation and Communications, announced that the eight new large boarding gates on the north side will boost the airport’s annual passenger handling capacity by 5.8 million, while Terminal 3 as a whole is expected to accommodate an additional 45 million passengers per year in the future.

Final Preparations Underway

The North Boarding Concourse, measuring 738 meters long and 13 meters high, is undergoing final inspections and operational drills. Li Junde, Vice President of Taoyuan International Airport Corporation, confirmed that a trial operation contingency team has been set up to test air bridges, elevators, power supply systems, restrooms, and passenger traffic flow.

“If everything goes smoothly, the trial operation will officially start at 3:00 AM tomorrow, and the first batch of passengers will begin using the North Boarding Hall from 8:00 AM,” Li said.

Architectural Design and Passenger Experience

Designed by the internationally acclaimed Richard Rogers team, the North Boarding Hall features a high ceiling and transparent glass walls, allowing natural light and the golden glow of sunset to fill the waiting area, creating a welcoming and modern atmosphere for travelers.

Lin Kuo-hsien highlighted that the new boarding gates will significantly enhance airport capacity and efficiency, helping Taoyuan International Airport handle more than 80 million passengers annually once fully operational.

Enhanced Services and Facilities

In addition to expanded boarding capacity, the North Boarding Hall will host well-known coffee shops and restaurants, providing travelers with high-quality amenities. Lin emphasized that the upgraded facilities aim to offer a premium and modern travel experience for both local passengers and international visitors.
