TAIPEI — The Central Weather Administration reports that Taiwan remains under the influence of northeasterly winds today (Dec. 2), bringing intermittent showers and cooler temperatures to several regions. Areas north of Taoyuan and Yilan can expect brief, scattered rain throughout the day. Similar short-lived showers may also appear in Hualien, Taitung, and the mountainous regions of central and southern Taiwan.

Rainfall is expected to intensify this evening as the northeast monsoon strengthens, especially in Keelung, the northern coast, Greater Taipei, and Yilan.

Cooler Nights and Mild Days

Temperatures will dip during the night and early morning hours, with lows between 18°C and 21°C across most of Taiwan. Daytime highs will reach 25°C to 26°C in the north, northeast, and east, while central and southern regions may see warmer temperatures ranging from 27°C to 30°C.

The day–night temperature gap will be more pronounced in central and southern Taiwan, exceeding 10°C in some locations. Meteorologists advise residents heading out early or returning home late to dress warmly to avoid catching a cold. With the monsoon strengthening tonight, conditions in the north and northeast will become noticeably cooler.
