A Taiwan Railways station attendant at Wuquan Station in Taichung was reportedly pushed onto the train tracks by an unidentified passenger on Monday afternoon, sparking a police investigation.
According to the Railway Police Bureau, the incident occurred at approximately 3:38 p.m. while the attendant was on duty at Platform 1. The suspect suddenly shoved the staff member, causing him to fall onto the tracks and sustain a minor foot injury. The attendant managed to climb back onto the platform unassisted, and no trains were affected by the incident.
Authorities confirmed that the passenger fled the scene immediately after the assault. Surveillance footage from the station is currently being reviewed to identify and locate the suspect.
Investigators are now working to determine whether the attack was deliberate or the result of a confrontation between the two individuals. The Railway Police Bureau emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional security measures may be considered to ensure the safety of station staff and passengers.
Passengers at Wuquan Station expressed concern over the incident, calling for increased police presence and improved monitoring in train stations to prevent similar occurrences.
