TAINAN CITY (October 11, 2025)— A woman’s body was discovered in the Zengwen River, located between the Xigang and Qigu districts of Tainan City, around 9:00 a.m. today, October 11. Authorities said the victim, believed to be around 30 years old, has yet to be identified.
At approximately 7:00 a.m., residents spotted what appeared to be a person lying along the riverbank near the downstream area of the Zengwenxi Xigang Bridge and upstream of the Qigu Guosheng Bridge. They immediately contacted emergency services.
The Tainan City Fire Department’s Third Disaster Rescue Brigade dispatched rescue teams from Xigang, Qigu, and Jiali stations. Responders retrieved the woman’s body by boat and brought it ashore.
Police from the Jiali Precinct are investigating the woman’s identity and cause of death. Prosecutors have been notified, and authorities are cross-referencing missing person reports to help determine who the victim is and whether foul play was involved.
