Taiwan will continue to feel the effects of the northeast monsoon this week, with a new surge of strong cold air forecast to arrive midweek. According to weather expert Lin De-en, who shared the update on his Facebook page “Teacher Lin’s Weather Station,” the next wave of cold air from the north is expected to reach Taiwan during the day on Wednesday.

Lin noted that the sharpest temperature drop will occur from Wednesday evening through early Thursday morning. Northern Taiwan and Yilan will experience the most significant cooling, while the rest of the island will also see temperatures gradually decline. The weather pattern will shift from damp and cold conditions to a period of dry cold as the system settles.

Brief localized showers are expected in northern and eastern Taiwan, including the Hengchun Peninsula, along with scattered rainfall in mountainous areas of central Taiwan. Other regions should see mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies.

From Thursday to Friday, the northeast monsoon will maintain cooler weather across northern Taiwan, Yilan, and Hualien, with other regions experiencing cooler mornings and evenings. Temperatures are forecast to rise gradually across the island by Saturday, although early mornings and nights will remain chilly.

Weather authorities continue to advise the public to dress warmly, especially during peak hours of the temperature drop later this week.
