Changhua, Taiwan — April 11, 2026 —A late-night road accident in Changhua County left several teenagers injured after a vehicle carrying six high school students crashed into a roadside electric pole and a residential house along County Road 139 in Fenyuan Township.
According to the Changhua County Fire Department, the incident occurred at around 11:36 p.m. on April 10. The group of students from Taichung City reportedly took a vehicle without permission to go sightseeing at night. On their return trip, the car lost control on a curve, struck a utility pole, and then collided with a nearby home.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported four injured students to nearby hospitals, including Yuanlin Christian Hospital and other medical centers. Authorities confirmed that all injured victims were conscious when they arrived for treatment.
🚑 Injuries Reported
The injured students include:
- One student with a fractured left arm
- One student with a head laceration and fractured arm
- One student with hip pain
- One student with facial and body abrasions
Two other students in the vehicle, including the driver, were not injured. Police confirmed that the driver tested negative for alcohol.
🚨 Investigation Findings
Although initial accounts from the students suggested that motorcyclists may have provoked the incident, investigators later dismissed the claim after reviewing surveillance footage.
Authorities said the motorcyclists seen near the area were unrelated to the group and had stopped only after hearing the crash to assist and call for help. No evidence of racing or provocation was found.
Police now believe the accident was likely caused by unfamiliarity with the road and improper handling while navigating a curve, resulting in a self-inflicted crash.
Further investigation is ongoing to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident.
⚠️ Safety Reminder
Authorities are reminding young drivers and the public to avoid unauthorized vehicle use and to exercise extreme caution when driving on unfamiliar mountain roads, especially during nighttime conditions.
