Hsinchu, Taiwan – October 3, 2025 — A disturbing case of school bullying has emerged in Hsinchu after a freshman student was violently assaulted with a baseball bat near a school parking lot, prompting a police investigation and urgent calls for student protection.
The incident, which occurred the afternoon before yesterday at the Akadosaki parking lot, was caught on video and widely circulated on social media platform Threads. The footage shows a male freshman in uniform kneeling on the ground, surrounded by onlookers, when a man dressed in black approaches, slaps him twice, and orders him to “get down.” Moments later, the man strikes the student’s buttocks three times with a baseball bat, warning him to “be careful in school.” The crowd reacted with shock, with some students recording the scene.
School and Parental Response
The school confirmed that the victim sought help from its counseling team the following morning. Staff immediately notified the boy’s parents, who took him to the hospital for examination before reporting the case to the police. Officials also launched an internal inquiry to identify students seen in the video.
According to the school, the assailant was not a student but an outsider, and the attack reportedly stemmed from a prior dispute dating back to junior high school. Other students at the scene were bystanders and did not directly participate.
Measures Taken
Administrators emphasized that the matter is being handled under the principles of both education and discipline. Counseling support has been provided to the victim, while parents were urged to closely monitor their children’s after-school activities. The school also pledged to strengthen legal and safety education for students and maintain coordination with law enforcement.
Authorities have also requested the removal of the video under the Child and Youth Welfare and Rights Protection Act, warning the public against further sharing of the footage to avoid potential legal consequences.
Police Action
Police confirmed that the case has been filed as suspected assault, with charges of injury being pursued. Investigators are working to determine the identity of the assailant and clarify the full circumstances of the incident.
The incident has raised concerns among parents and education officials, highlighting the need for greater vigilance in protecting students both on and off campus.
