A hot pot restaurant in Taipei City’s Shilin District was damaged by fire early Monday after flames erupted from the metal roofing of the establishment. The incident occurred at around 5 a.m., and the blaze spread rapidly due to the roofing material, destroying parts of the interior and kitchen equipment. Fortunately, no nearby residents or establishments were affected, and the fire remained contained within the restaurant.
The Taipei City Fire Department reported that it received the emergency call at 5:06 a.m. regarding the fire on Dexing West Road. In response, authorities deployed 11 fire trucks, one ambulance, and 33 personnel to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters found the blaze originating from a two-story brick building with a sheet-metal extension attached to the first floor.
Fire crews set up water lines and managed to extinguish the blaze by 6:13 a.m. Preliminary estimates show that around 10 square meters of the restaurant were burned. While the fire destroyed interior furnishings and kitchen utensils, officials stated that the cause of the incident is still under investigation.
