MANILA, Philippines — October 8, 2025 — Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa has questioned why incoming Ombudsman and current Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla appears to be prioritizing an investigation into Vice President Sara Duterte once he assumes his new post.
“Bakit gano’n kaagad?” dela Rosa asked, expressing concern over what he described as the swift focus on the Vice President.
Despite his reservations, the senator clarified that he respects President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s decision to appoint Remulla as the next Ombudsman, noting that it is the President’s prerogative to choose officials he trusts.
Remulla earlier stated that he plans to look into the alleged misuse of confidential funds by the Office of the Vice President (OVP), an issue that has sparked public debate and political tension.
Dela Rosa said that while he supports transparency and accountability, investigations should be handled fairly and without political bias.
The Office of the Ombudsman is tasked with investigating and prosecuting government officials accused of corruption or misconduct. Remulla is set to take over the position following his confirmation and will be responsible for upholding integrity and impartiality in public service.
