Manila, Philippines (November 21, 2025)– Former Speaker and Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez asserted that his conscience is clear and that he remains willing to cooperate fully with any investigation regarding alleged irregularities in Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projects currently being reviewed by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
Romualdez stated that he voluntarily appeared and participated in the fact-finding process conducted by the ICI, stayed in the country throughout the proceedings, and provided his side at every stage of the investigation. He emphasized that, to date, there has been no credible evidence linking him to any wrongdoing.
The congressman also noted that the case is now under the Office of the Ombudsman for a more thorough review and evaluation. He expressed full confidence in the Ombudsman’s impartial investigation and believes that the truth will come out following a careful examination of the records.
Earlier this morning, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that the ICI and DPWH recommended the filing of a case against Romualdez and others.
Romualdez remains open to any investigation and committed to cooperating to clarify the allegations against him.
