The Piggatan Bridge in Alcala, Cagayan collapsed on Monday afternoon, leaving the vital structure impassable to all types of vehicles and prompting an urgent investigation by local authorities.

According to initial reports from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Alcala, several ten-wheeler trucks were on the bridge at the time of the collapse. The extent of the damage is still being assessed, and authorities are verifying whether anyone sustained injuries.

Emergency responders and engineers from the local government immediately rushed to the scene to secure the area and prevent further accidents. Traffic has been rerouted while an inspection of the surrounding infrastructure is underway.
