Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla revealed that former Ako Bico Representative Zaldy Co and several congressmen will be included in the first batch of flood control-related cases to be filed at the Sandiganbayan in November.
According to Remulla, there is substantial evidence linking Co to the initial set of cases. He added that numerous other congressmen are also included in the list of officials facing charges.
Zaldy Co was implicated by former district and assistant engineers who testified regarding budget insertions totaling P35 billion from 2022 to 2025. The alleged irregularities reportedly include anomalies in flood control projects in Bulacan, among other areas.
The filing of these cases marks a significant step in holding public officials accountable for mismanagement and misuse of government funds allocated for flood control infrastructure.
