Taipei (October 26, 2025) – A touching moment unfolded in New Taipei City when a Sanchong Bus driver went above and beyond to help a passenger in need. On the morning of October 21, Route 857 driver Lin Rongxin noticed a 60-year-old woman with limited mobility struggling to board the bus amid heavy rain.

At around 7:00 a.m., Bus No. FAD-157 was approaching the Luzhou Lujiang Elementary School stop when a passenger informed Lin that someone was having difficulty getting on. The driver immediately stopped, disembarked, and prepared a ramp. However, he discovered that the woman was not using a wheelchair but was instead crawling slowly on the wet ground, using her hands for support.

Without hesitation, Lin gently lifted the woman and helped her board the bus, ensuring she was comfortably seated. Passengers, initially engrossed in their phones or reading, were moved by the act of kindness. Witnesses described the scene as “deeply touching,” saying it reminded them of the humanity still present in everyday life.

About an hour later, when the woman arrived at her destination near Yangming Street in Banqiao, Lin once again stood up and assisted her off the bus with care.

According to Sanchong Bus Assistant Manager Gao Canhuang, the 42-year-old driver has been with the company for about one and a half years since joining in May last year. Gao praised Lin for his diligence and compassion, noting that he didn’t hesitate to help even at the cost of getting wet and dirty.

Upon learning of the driver’s selfless deed, Sanchong Bus General Manager Li Jianwen immediately approved a special bonus to recognize Lin’s outstanding service.

“This kind of genuine care represents the true spirit of public service,” Li said, adding that Lin’s actions serve as an inspiration to others in the transport industry.
