A 35-year-old Thai migrant worker traveling by motorcycle ran low on fuel while visiting the Mingchi Mountain Resort parking area along Beiheng Highway in Datong Township, Yilan County, today. Concerned about being stranded in the mountainous area, he sought assistance from local police, who promptly came to his aid.
At 7:15 a.m., the Sanxing Police Precinct received a 110 emergency call reporting a foreign national in need of help at the Mingchi Mountain Resort parking lot. Deputy Chief Chiang Yin-Xing and Officer Chiu Hsiao-Ming were dispatched to the scene. They learned that the Thai worker had taken advantage of the Lunar New Year holiday to ride his motorcycle from Taoyuan along Provincial Highway 7 to the Mingchi Recreation Area in Yilan. When passing the resort parking area, he discovered his motorcycle was low on fuel and feared being stranded.
Upon assessing the situation, the police coordinated with Mingchi Mountain Resort staff to obtain fuel and refuel the motorcycle, ensuring the worker could safely continue his journey down the mountain. Officers also reminded him to drive safely, and the migrant worker expressed heartfelt gratitude for their timely assistance.
The Sanxing Police Precinct reminded the public that mountain weather can be unpredictable during the Lunar New Year period, and travel conditions may be challenging. Travelers are advised to check vehicle conditions and fuel levels before embarking on trips to avoid disruptions to their plans.
