TAIPEI (October 11, 2025)— LINE Taiwan has officially announced that beginning this December, users will only have one hour to unsend a message after it’s sent — a major reduction from the current 24-hour time limit.

According to LINE, the change aims to “enhance messaging integrity and user experience.” Once the update takes effect, users will no longer be able to recall messages after one hour, so double-checking messages before sending will become more important than ever.

The modification will be rolled out gradually across different regions, with Taiwan expected to implement the new limit in December. LINE said the decision came after reviewing user feedback and message recall trends, noting that most unsend actions occur shortly after sending.

Reactions from Taiwanese users have been mixed — some welcomed the update as a move toward accountability, while others expressed frustration, saying that one hour might not be enough time to correct mistakes or retract unintended messages.

LINE reminded users that once a message is deleted using the “unsend” feature, it cannot be restored. The company encourages everyone to review messages carefully before hitting “send,” especially once the new policy takes effect.
