Kaohsiung, Taiwan (December 10, 2025)— A 68-year-old woman was fatally stabbed Thursday morning at a betel nut stand in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung, following a dispute over an unpaid debt.

Police identified the suspect as 46-year-old Lü, who reportedly had a NT$60,000 debt conflict with the victim’s 42-year-old son, surnamed Lin. Around 7:30 a.m., Lü went to the stand seeking repayment. When he could not find Lin, he got into an argument with Lin’s mother, 68-year-old Wang, and allegedly attacked her with a knife.

Wang sustained multiple stab wounds to her left chest and shoulder. She collapsed at the scene and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Authorities arrived shortly after the incident. Lü was reportedly seen observing the scene after the attack. Police tracked him to a nearby arcade, where bloodstains on his shoes revealed his involvement. A knife used in the attack was recovered in an alley on Guangyuan Road.

Following interrogation, Lü has been charged with homicide and is in police custody awaiting legal proceedings.
