Kaohsiung, Taiwan — October 31, 2025

The Taiwan Water Corporation (TWC) has announced an 11-hour scheduled water interruption in parts of Kaohsiung City on November 6, affecting approximately 38,000 households. The temporary shutdown is due to the annual inspection and maintenance of electrical and water distribution systems at the Weng Park Water Purification Plant.

According to TWC, water supply will be suspended from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the districts of Fengshan, Daliao, Dashu, and in the Hefa (Hechun Base) and Wanda Industrial Parks. An additional 13-hour pressure reduction, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, will occur in parts of Zhongzhuang and Qianzhuang Villages in Daliao District.

Affected Areas

The areas expected to experience a total water outage include:

  • Daliao District: Shanding, Yongfang, Guangwu, Huishe, Sanlong, Shangliao, Zhongxing, Jiangshan, Zhongyi, Liuqiu, Wengyuan, Xiliao, and Yihe Villages

  • Fengshan District: Dongmen, Fengdong, Chengde, Chengxin, and Chengzhi Villages

  • Dashu District: Jiuqu Village and Wacuo Street’s small industrial area

  • Industrial Parks: Hefa Industrial Zone (Hechun Base) and Wanda Industrial Zone

Areas under reduced water pressure include Qianzhuang and Zhongzhuang Villages in Daliao District. Some high-elevation and high-pressure zones such as Daliao Lily Garden (Kai-Sheng Hospital area), Daliao District Cleaning Team, Shanding Elementary School, and Zhongshan Industrial & Commercial High School may experience longer restoration times.

Maintenance and Safety Measures

TWC clarified that the outage is mandated under Article 10 of the “Regulations Governing the Management of Electrical Equipment in Electricity-Using Sites and by Full-Time Electrical Technicians.” The regulation requires an annual inspection of electrical systems to ensure operational safety.

To minimize disruption, TWC will conduct four maintenance projects simultaneously, including:

  1. Adding an AT connection to the generator’s power distribution equipment.

  2. Repairing leaks on the Daliao Bridge pipeline.

  3. Installing a new valve on the clear water reservoir’s outlet pipe.

  4. Fixing leaks in the motor’s outlet pipeline at the same reservoir.

Advisory to Residents

TWC advises affected residents to store enough water at least six hours before the outage and to turn off water pumps to prevent damage during the shutdown. Water supply is expected to gradually normalize after 8:00 PM, though low-lying and end-of-line areas may experience slower pressure recovery.

Water service will remain unaffected in areas outside the designated maintenance zones.
