Kaohsiung City is bursting with excitement this Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, offering a wide variety of attractions and performances that promise to delight visitors of all ages. From world-class circus acts and colorful hot air balloons to traditional markets and art events, the city is inviting travelers nationwide to join in the celebration.

FOCASA Circus Festival: A Global Spectacle by the Harbor

The much-anticipated FOCASA Circus Arts Festival will take place on the large lawn beside the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center Light Rail Station from October 3–6 and October 10–12. This year’s theme, “Circus Sailor Village,” brings together performers from eight countries across three massive circus tents, presenting 101 international acts including aerial performances, juggling, tightrope walking, and acrobatics.

To heighten the festive atmosphere, outdoor concerts will feature performances by Wangfu on October 5 and Universe People on October 12, turning Kaohsiung’s harborfront into a vibrant nighttime playground.

Hot Air Balloons Over Moon World

Following the success of the Kaohsiung Love Moon Hot Air Balloon event at Tianliao Moon World, which drew over 40,000 visitors during the Teachers’ Day holiday, hot air balloons will once again take flight from October 4–6. Launches are scheduled from 6:00–8:00 a.m. and 4:00–5:30 p.m. daily, offering breathtaking views of Kaohsiung’s unique terrain. Visitors are reminded to monitor traffic updates along Provincial Highway 28 when heading to the site.

Mid-Autumn Concert and Art Appreciation at Kaohsiung Station

At Kaohsiung Main Station, the B1 Central Sunken Plaza will host its first-ever Mid-Autumn Festival Concert on October 4, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Attendees will also enjoy guided tours of six major public artworks, including “Watching Time” and “Listening to Steam.”

Family Fun at the New Hakka Cultural Park

The Kaohsiung New Hakka Cultural Park in Sanmin District will host “Baby Hakka Dream GO!” from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on October 4. Activities include shadow puppet DIY, indigo dyeing, street dance performances, and live music by Golden Melody Award-winning artist Lin Shengxiang, celebrating both creativity and culture.

Traditional Markets and Local Crafts

The Gangshan Basketry Association, with a history spanning more than 200 years, will hold its Mid-Autumn Basketry Market from 6:00 p.m. on October 4 to midnight on October 5 along Hehua Road and Julun Road. The fair will feature food stalls, local produce, handmade goods, and agricultural tool displays.

Meanwhile, the Kaohsiung Pop Music Center’s Yinlang Tower will launch the “Yuzu Season – Mid-Autumn Festival Limited Market” from October 4–6, featuring seasonal pomelo-themed products. The nearby Pier-2 Art Center will also host its Stroller’s Market and Marginalized Market, adding to the city’s bustling festive scene.

With performances, art, and local flavor filling the streets, Kaohsiung is transforming into a citywide stage of joy and creativity, inviting everyone to experience its vibrant Mid-Autumn charm.
