Taoyuan, Taiwan — October 4, 2025
In a coordinated anti-drug operation, the Zhongli Police Precinct in Taoyuan City and the Tongxiao Police Precinct in Miaoli County successfully arrested five suspects, including a 46-year-old man surnamed Wang and a 47-year-old man surnamed Zhang, in the mountainous region of Wunan Village, Tongxiao Township, Miaoli County. Authorities confiscated more than 930 grams of illegal narcotics, including heroin, amphetamines, and etomidate.
According to the Zhongli Police, intelligence gathered by the Longxing Police Station and the precinct’s investigation unit indicated that Wang was involved in both drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession. On September 25, officers executed a search warrant in Hsinchu City, where they apprehended two individuals found with three modified pistols, ammunition, and drugs. However, Wang managed to escape by ramming through police barricades and subsequently switching vehicles and hideouts multiple times to evade capture.
After days of surveillance, investigators tracked Wang’s movements and confirmed that he was hiding in a remote coastal-mountain area of Tongxiao. Acting under the direction of the Taoyuan District Prosecutor’s Office, a joint task force was formed to conduct the arrest operation.
On October 2, police and prosecutors launched a multi-pronged raid involving four teams that encircled the location. Due to the rugged terrain, special operations officers from the Security Brigade were deployed to storm the site directly. The operation was carried out smoothly, leading to the successful arrest of Wang, Zhang, and three accomplices.
Authorities seized approximately 40 grams of heroin, 600 grams of amphetamines, 200 grams of etomidate, along with 13 etomidate cigarette cartridges and two bottles of e-liquid.
Further investigation revealed that Wang was wanted for a three-year prison sentence, while Zhang had an outstanding 17-year sentence. The case has now been turned over to the Taoyuan District Prosecutor’s Office for prosecution under the Firearms, Ammunition, and Knife Control Act, as well as the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act.
The drug-related charges involving the other three suspects have been referred to the Miaoli District Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.
Authorities emphasized that this operation highlights their commitment to dismantling drug networks and cracking down on organized criminal activity across jurisdictional boundaries.
