Taipei, Taiwan — December 6, 2025
Despite the slim chance of snowfall, Hehuanshan Mountain attracted a large number of tourists over the holiday, eager to enjoy the scenic winter landscapes. Early morning low temperatures caused frost to form along the Crystal Palace section of Provincial Highway 14A (31–33K). As the sun rose, melting frost made the roads slippery, particularly along the winding stretches from Wuling to Songxuelou, leading to several incidents where cars and motorcycles lost traction.

Local police are advising drivers on Provincial Highways 8 and 14A to exercise extra caution when navigating these mountainous roads.

By morning, Wuling was crowded with both visitors and vehicles, with parking lots reaching full capacity. Many tourists took the opportunity to take photos at Wuling Pavilion, capturing the picturesque mix of blue skies, white clouds, and lush green mountains that create a quintessential high-mountain winter scene.

Authorities reported that early morning temperatures left sections of Provincial Highway 14A coated in frost. As the day warmed, the melting frost created slick surfaces, causing several vehicles to skid. Police noted that the sharp curves and narrow lanes between Wuling and Songxuelou increased the risk of accidents, with some vehicles nearly hitting the guardrails.

Renai police emphasized that road conditions in the mountains can change rapidly. Travelers are encouraged to check their vehicles, bring necessary safety gear, and remain alert while driving to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit to the highlands.
