MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Former Executive Secretary and retired General Eduardo Ermita passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025, surrounded by his family, according to a statement from his loved ones.

“Our father lived a full life in steadfast service to the Filipino people. As a soldier, he served with honor and dedication during some of the nation’s most challenging times,” his daughter, Lisa Ermita, said in a statement.

General Ermita held several key positions during his career, including Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Secretary of National Defense, in addition to his role as Executive Secretary. His service spanned both military and civilian leadership, earning him respect across the country.

The AFP expressed its condolences, honoring his lifelong commitment to the nation. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the Ermita family during this time of grief.
