Taichung, Taiwan – November 15, 2025 – A woman in her 70s sustained injuries after accidentally falling onto the tracks at Platform 1 of Taichung Railway Station earlier this morning. The incident occurred as a Tze-Chiang Express train was entering the station, and despite emergency braking, the train struck her.

The Taichung City Fire Department reported receiving the alert at 10:32 AM. Three fire units, including the 7th Fire Brigade and the Xinyi Branch, were dispatched to the scene with a total of five fire trucks and 14 personnel. Deputy Brigade Commander Yeh Chih-feng took charge of the rescue operation. Upon arrival, the team secured the track area and coordinated with Taiwan Railways staff to ensure train safety before beginning the rescue.

Despite being struck, the woman remained conscious. Firefighters provided first aid on-site, treating visible injuries to her limbs and stabilizing her condition. She was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the fall and the details surrounding the accident.
