Taipei, Taiwan — December 5, 2025

A 76-year-old homeless man was found dead this afternoon on a pedestrian overpass near North Gate 3 of Taipei Main Station, with authorities suspecting that poor health and cold weather contributed to his death. The deceased, identified only by his surname Zhuang, was registered as a homeless individual in Taipei City. As no relatives have been located, the Taipei City Social Affairs Bureau will assist with posthumous arrangements.

At around 3:36 p.m., Zhuang was discovered curled up on the pedestrian overpass at the intersection of Section 1, Civic Boulevard, and Section 1, Chengde Road. Paramedics arriving at the scene confirmed that he had already passed away.

Police investigations revealed that Zhuang was a registered homeless person. Earlier in the day, a fellow homeless individual had been with him on the overpass, and a social worker reported seeing him pick up his lunchbox at noon.

In the afternoon, a companion noticed that Zhuang was unresponsive and, upon attempting to wake him, realized his body was stiff. The witness immediately notified the Zhongzheng First Precinct.

Officers at the scene reported no visible injuries or signs of foul play. Authorities believe that the combination of Zhuang’s frail health and the recent drop in temperature likely led to his death. Police and social affairs officials will coordinate to manage the follow-up and care for his remains.
