October 22, 2025 | Marikina City – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will conduct a ceremonial destruction of non-compliant and uncertified products valued at PHP4.6 million on Wednesday morning, October 22, at the DTI-Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) warehouse in Marikina City. The event is part of the observance of Consumer Welfare Month.
Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina A. Roque is expected to lead the ceremony, alongside Assistant Secretary Atty. Regino D. Mallari Jr. of the DTI-Fair Trade Group and OIC-Director Marimel D. Porciuncula of the DTI-FTEB.
The destroyed items include a wide range of uncertified products that do not comply with regulatory standards, posing potential risks to consumers. The event underscores the DTI’s commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring that products in the market meet safety and quality standards.
This initiative also highlights ongoing efforts by the DTI to raise public awareness about the importance of buying certified and safe products, particularly during Consumer Welfare Month, which aims to promote responsible consumption and informed purchasing decisions among Filipinos.
