The newly appointed Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Department of Justice (DOJ), Fredderick Vida, led his first flag-raising ceremony on Monday following his formal designation by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. Vida replaces former Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, who recently vacated the post.

After the ceremony, Vida held his first press conference as DOJ’s new leader, where he expressed his commitment to continue the department’s programs and strengthen its pursuit of justice. He assured the public that ongoing investigations—particularly those involving the missing “sabungeros” and the flood control project anomalies—will remain top priorities under his supervision.

“Rest assured, these investigations will not be set aside. We will give them the attention they deserve,” Vida said during his briefing.

Vida also called on the public to maintain even a small measure of trust in the government amid allegations of corruption within various agencies.

“I ask everyone to keep even a little trust in your hearts for this administration, under the leadership of our beloved President,” he stated. “We will follow where the evidence leads and hold accountable those who must be held responsible.”

Acknowledging the heavy responsibility that comes with his new position, Vida vowed to perform his duties in accordance with the rule of law and uphold the integrity of the DOJ.

“It’s a tremendous task, but I will do my best to fulfill my responsibilities properly and with integrity,” he added.

The DOJ remains at the forefront of several major investigations, and Vida’s appointment signals the administration’s effort to reinforce accountability and public trust in the justice system.
