TUMBLER RIDGE, British Columbia — February 10, 2026

A deadly shooting at a high school in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, left 10 people dead on Tuesday, including the female suspect believed to be the shooter, in what authorities are calling one of the deadliest mass-casualty incidents in Canada.

According to initial reports, six victims were found inside the school campus. Two other fatalities were discovered at a nearby residence that investigators believe is connected to the incident. Another victim died while being transported to a hospital.

Emergency responders rushed multiple people to medical facilities following the attack. At least two individuals remain hospitalized with serious injuries, while more than 25 others were treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Local police and emergency services quickly secured the area as students and staff were evacuated. Authorities have not yet released details on the motive behind the shooting and said the investigation remains ongoing.

Officials expressed condolences to the victims’ families and the wider community, as grief counselors and support services were deployed to assist those affected by the tragedy.
