A heated altercation broke out in Taichung’s Dongshi District after a male cyclist reportedly passed between two tour buses, sparking anger from both drivers and resulting in a physical confrontation.

According to police reports, the incident occurred at the intersection of Dongguan Road and Fengshi Road—a well-known route frequented by cyclists traveling between Fengyuan and Dongshi. The 32-year-old cyclist rode through a narrow space between two parked tour buses, which the drivers allegedly interpreted as an act of “road provocation.”

The drivers then stopped the cyclist, leading to a verbal exchange that quickly escalated into a physical struggle. Witnesses said the bus drivers and the cyclist pulled at the bicycle during the scuffle—one grabbing the seat and the other holding onto the handlebars—until the situation became chaotic.

When officers from the Dongshi Police Station arrived, the confrontation had already subsided. The cyclist claimed he sustained scratches and bruises and accused the drivers of assault and verbal insult. He has since filed a legal complaint for injury and public insult.

In response, one of the tour bus drivers stated that he may also pursue legal action against the cyclist, maintaining that the incident began due to the rider’s reckless behavior on the road.

Authorities have launched an investigation to review surveillance footage and statements from those involved. Police reminded both motorists and cyclists to remain calm and respectful on the road to avoid conflicts that could lead to legal consequences.
