New Taipei, Taiwan – October 14, 2025 — With the Danjiang Bridge set to open soon, New Taipei City is planning several new bus routes, including the Taoyuan Airport Express, the Banqiao Express, and the Tamsui-Bali Sightseeing Bus, expected to launch by the end of the year.

During a city council inquiry, Councilor Zheng Yuen raised concerns about the proposed Taoyuan Airport Express, noting that its initial plan includes 24 stops, which she argued is too many for a true express service. “This isn’t an express line; it’s just a bus to the airport,” Zheng said, urging the city government to follow examples from Japan and South Korea, where airport express buses have designated stops to ensure speed and convenience for passengers.

According to the route map obtained by council members, stations from Tamsui to Taoyuan Airport include Xinshi Station, Ocean City Community, Kanding Six Neighborhoods, Tianshui County Community, Zhongshan Binhai Road Intersection, Wailiao, Dinghao, Yongle Lane Intersection, Tamsui MRT Station, Little White House, Fort Sanmao, Huwei Fort, Tamjiang Bridge, Bali, Thirteen Hong Museum, China Broadcasting Corporation, Bali Service Station, Old Town, Tudigong Temple, Binhai Zhihai Street Intersection, Tianliao, and Terminals 1 and 2.

Zheng noted that the Tamsui Bridge will open next year and emphasized that travelers choose airport express services to reach destinations quickly. With the current plan, she argued, the bus would take almost 10 stops to reach Tamsui MRT Station and over a dozen stops to reach Taoyuan Airport Terminals 1 and 2, which could discourage usage by international tourists and local residents.

She suggested that express bus routes in other countries, such as Japan, typically stop at major hotels or key locations, often with only five stops, making them more attractive to travelers. Zheng also recommended that micro-transfer stations around the Tamkang Bridge should include taxis and other transportation options, not just buses.

New Taipei City Transportation Bureau Director Zhong Mingshi confirmed that several operators have submitted applications for the Airport Express. He stated that the routes and stops are still under discussion, and the city government will continue coordinating with operators based on council feedback. Zhong added that the review and approval of the Airport Express is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
