TACLOBAN CITY — October 7, 2025. Residents of Greendale and Guadalupe Village in Barangay 105, Tacloban City received much-needed water assistance as Councilor Marty Romualdez turned over three new Jetmatic water pumps to local communities. The initiative aimed to help ease the ongoing water shortage in the northern part of the city.
The turnover was done in coordination with the Greendale and Guadalupe Homeowners Association officers and Barangay Chairman Eutequio Balunan, who helped distribute the pumps to the beneficiaries.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Councilor Romualdez expressed his gratitude to Barangay Captain Balunan for his cooperation, saying:
“Nag-turnover tayo ng tatlong bagong Jetmatic Pumps sa Grendale at Guadalupe Homeowners Association Officers ng Brgy. 105, Tacloban City.
Maraming salamat kay Punong Brgy. Eutequio Balunan sa iyong tulong na maihatid namin ang Jetmatic Pumps sa mga recipients nito.
Nawa’y makatulong ito na mabawasan ang suliranin sa kakulangan ng tubig sa Norte.”
However, the post sparked mixed reactions among netizens, with some criticizing the donation for being too few compared to the size of the promotional materials displayed during the turnover. Online comments pointed out the large banner used in the event, saying it seemed disproportionate to the small number of water pumps donated.
Despite the criticism, supporters defended Councilor Romualdez, commending his office for taking concrete steps to address the water scarcity issue affecting the northern barangays. They emphasized that any form of assistance, big or small, remains valuable to the affected communities.
Local residents also shared that the new Jetmatic pumps will still make a difference, especially in areas where access to clean water remains limited.
The project is part of Romualdez’s continuing efforts to support basic community needs and improve living conditions in Tacloban City’s northern districts.
