MANILA, Philippines — Canada is providing C$650,000 (approximately PHP26 million) in humanitarian assistance to support emergency relief efforts in the Philippines, the Canadian Embassy in Manila announced on Thursday.

The funding will be channeled through three Philippine-based non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to deliver immediate aid to communities affected by recent emergencies.

Allocation of Funds

  • World Vision will receive C$350,000 to supply relief items, emergency shelter, protection services, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) support.

  • Philippine Red Cross will be granted C$250,000 to bolster ongoing relief operations in Cebu, one of the regions most affected.

  • Angat Buhay (Angat Pinas Inc.) will receive C$50,000 to aid in distributing dignity and hygiene kits and provide emergency shelter in Cebu.

The embassy emphasized that this support underscores Canada’s commitment to helping vulnerable communities in the Philippines respond to crises and improve resilience against disasters.

Humanitarian Focus

The aid is intended to address immediate needs such as safe shelter, clean water, and hygiene support, as well as protective services for affected populations. By partnering with local NGOs, the Canadian government aims to ensure that assistance reaches the most vulnerable quickly and efficiently.

This contribution reflects the strong bilateral partnership between Canada and the Philippines in addressing humanitarian challenges and strengthening community recovery efforts.
