Keelung City, Taiwan — October 15, 2025.
A physical altercation between a male and female passenger on a Keelung City bus has captured public attention after a video of the incident went viral on social media. The confrontation reportedly began over a misunderstood slipper exchange.

According to Keelung City Bus Director Zhong Huicun, the incident occurred yesterday evening on bus route 505, which was stopped at Chenghuang Temple Station on Zhongyi Road. Authorities are reviewing the bus’s dashcam footage to determine the exact cause of the dispute. The Bus Department emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety of both passengers and drivers.

In the 54-second video circulated online, a man, identified as Yang, was sitting in a priority seat near the rear door. The woman, Wei, standing nearby, removed her right slipper and slapped Yang. The slipper fell onto the seat next to him, and Yang responded by kicking her, causing the slipper to fall beneath the seat. Mistaking the slipper for her own, Wei picked it up and continued slapping Yang before initially leaving the bus.

Realizing she had taken the wrong slipper, Wei returned to retrieve her own. A second confrontation ensued when Yang misinterpreted her actions as continued aggression. During the struggle, Yang kicked Wei several times as she attempted to pick up her slipper, ultimately forcing her to leave the bus.

The bus driver, surnamed Xu, said the quarrel began when Yang asked Wei about her intended stop, as he needed to know who would get off first to determine seating arrangements. Xu noted that Wei found the question unreasonable, which escalated into a loud argument, prompting him to stop the bus at Chenghuang Temple Station. The verbal dispute then turned physical.

Yang continued riding after Wei got off, disembarking later at Wulingjiekou Station in Anle District. Police later revealed that Wei is wanted for theft, and authorities are currently tracking her down for apprehension.

The Keelung City Bus Department reiterated that passenger and driver safety is a top priority and that it is reviewing the incident to prevent similar disputes in the future.
