AN REMIGIO, Cebu – Multiple fatalities were reported in San Remigio town in northern Cebu following a powerful earthquake late Tuesday night, September 30.
The tremor struck during a basketball game at the San Remigio Sports Complex and Recreation Center, where some attendees were trapped under collapsing debris as they tried to evacuate the venue.
In another tragic incident, Capt. Jan Elcid Layug, chief of the San Remigio Municipal Police Station, confirmed that a child was killed after debris fell on their home while they were sleeping.
Authorities continue to assess the situation and urge residents to remain cautious of aftershocks and damaged structures.
