Taipei, Taiwan – April 26, 2026 — A 29-year-old American man was taken into custody early Sunday morning after allegedly knocking over several parked motorcycles while intoxicated in one of Taipei’s busiest nightlife districts.
According to the Taipei City Police Department Wanhua Precinct, officers from the Ximending Police Station responded to a report at around 6:00 a.m. along Neijiang Street. Witnesses said a foreign man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was seen pushing down motorcycles parked along the roadside.
When officers arrived, they located the suspect, who was reportedly disoriented, incoherent, and unable to present identification. Police brought him back to the station for protective custody and verification of his identity.
Authorities later confirmed that the individual, identified as a man surnamed G, is a U.S. national. Investigators believe he had been drinking heavily with friends the previous night and continued into the early morning hours. After the gathering ended, he allegedly lost control due to intoxication and began knocking over motorcycles in the area.
Police stated that at least one motorcycle owner has filed a complaint. Once the suspect regains sobriety, he will be formally processed and referred to prosecutors on charges related to property damage.
The Wanhua Precinct reminded the public to drink responsibly, warning that disorderly or illegal behavior resulting from intoxication can lead to criminal liability. Authorities emphasized their commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring safety in popular areas like Ximending.
