Nueva Ecija — A distressed overseas Filipino worker (OFW) has finally returned to her hometown after experiencing difficulties abroad and seeking immediate assistance upon arrival in the Philippines.
The OFW, identified as Cristie Nacino Agiatan, a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Nagpandayan in Guimba, had been working in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia before deciding to return home due to alleged contract violations, extreme fatigue, and lack of proper rest.
She arrived in the Philippines on April 26, 2026 at around 9:30 PM at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 via Oman Air.
Upon arrival, she proceeded to seek assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). With no available funds for transportation back to Nueva Ecija, she stayed overnight at the OWWA lounge.
Agiatan said her recruitment agency allegedly failed to release her remaining eight days of salary, leaving her without money for her trip home. While she was provided food, drinks, and transport assistance to Cubao bus terminal, she reportedly did not receive financial aid for her provincial fare due to limited available funds.
She has since safely arrived in Guimba and is now reunited with her family. She brought home a signed statement detailing her experience, citing overwork, lack of rest, and contract violations as reasons for her early return.
The Tru Force Recruitment Agency has reportedly expressed willingness to coordinate with Agiatan and her family regarding her case.
The incident highlights continuing concerns over the welfare and support systems for distressed OFWs returning to the country.
