Keelung City — March 30, 2026

A collision and derailment occurred yesterday at the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) Qidu Shunting Yard, involving two 900-series electric multiple units (EMUs), according to reports shared on the Facebook page San Tie Information Agency: Accident Reports and Railway Events Sharing.

The incident involved EMU912 and EMU920, resulting in the derailment of the first carriage of EMU912 and carriages six through ten of EMU920. One worker sustained injuries during the accident but was promptly sent to a hospital for treatment. TRA confirmed that the incident did not affect the operation of mainline train services.

TRA stated that the report was received at 9:29 p.m. concerning an accident that occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. while the two trains were being shunted within the yard. The cause of the derailment remains unclear, and the injured employee reportedly suffered a suspected leg and ankle sprain.

Emergency personnel were dispatched immediately, and the situation was contained to the yard without impacting regular train operations. TRA said a full investigation is underway to determine the cause and prevent future incidents.

This marks another operational accident at the Qidu shunting yard, raising concerns about safety protocols during train shunting and yard operations.
